Hey guys!
I don't know about you guys, but I have always preferred Structured combat-modes over not structured. For those of you that don't, and haven't checked it out yet, here is a short summary.

In sPvP there are a set number of participants with equal numbers of players on both teams. That means you have to outsmart the opponent, not overpower them! Tactics, skill and a smart set-up of the different classes is the only way to win.
Let's take 5v5 as an example.
Now, there are hundreds of different strategies, so I will use my favorite 2.

The first is what I call "Watch and wait"
The whole team waits for the opponent to make a move, and move acording to them. Usually, you wait in the middle, staying out of sight. Let's say the opposing team goes 5 to the middle point. From here you can do 2 things. Either ambush them mid or go for the enemies first point. What I like to do is have 1 go to the first point and 4 wait outside mid. The enemies (if dumb) all go back except for 1 or 2 of them. Then it's a piece of cake to take mid and hold it. The 1 guy retreats unless he has a fair chance of taking the first point. So now you have either 2 or 3 points, and the middle one is secure.

The second is a plain rush of 5 to the opposite side of the map, taking their first point and pushing mid from there. This strategy only works if you have good teamwork, which is key to everything in sPvP. In the end, you have 2 or 3 points.

Now, there are alot of strategies and counter-strategies and ofc. counter-counter-strategies, but if you don't have teamwork, none of them will work! That is why I believe we have a fair chance of winning everything.

I can't wait to begin!

I am at my iPhone atm so the spelling is probably not the best, sorry for that :/

I would also like to mention that there is a sPvP group under the groups tab here on the website. If you are interested in joining a sPvP team join the group So we can see how many Teams need to be made. :)

I'd love to join this. I think for this to work everyone involved needs a headset/mic and some sort of voice comm system. I know that I have a hard time staying alive, killing, and typing at the same time.
Almost done with Prophecies and done with Nightfall. Woohoo!

You also have to take into account the specifics of each map in GW2.

For BoK, you should always make it a point to have a trebuchet-focused player, who takes out the enemy's then mounts our's. While taking out the opposing treb, another member should be defending our own. The other three members should take the close capture point, then rush middle when we are ready to siege the clocktower. By the end of the first minute of the match, we'll have two capture points, a solid treb defense and an opposing team with no seige weapon.

For LotF, there are three general tactics: defend the Lord at all costs, split between defending the Lord and assaulting the opposing Lord, or an all-out assault on the opposing Lord, to prevent the opposing team from gaining an advantage. The choice depends mostly on the strength of the opposing team. If they are strong, you want an all-out-offense in order to even the playing field, then you can focus on holding the capture points. An unknown team is best suited for the balanced gambit, since you can always adjust on the fly. Finally, the defensive maneuver is best used for lesser or disorganized opponents, since you won't need the advantage of Lord points.

Then there's FoN. Honestly, I didn't play this map enough to hammer out any solid battle plans. But from what I did gather, you should always have designated Jungle-hunters, as in LoL. If we have one member that can solo the Vets, have him constantly rushing them and trying to get the "last hit" in. Those points are vital to the match. Apart from that, this is a standard Capture-and-Hold map, so the traditional strategies apply.

Invited you guys to the sPvP Group. Looking forward to playing with ya'll, but I will be unable to play very often from September-June, since I'll be travelling for school. I will post strategies and guide you guys through this site, though. Organize teams, events, etc...
